The Simple Life

These jars look good anywhere!
A distressed dresser can be perfect for an entryway.  I use mine for game storage.

We had a wedding in our family recently.  Of course our theme was vintage and repurposed.  It was a fun time for all.

Marc Henning Photography  has provided the first 2 photos.  We will post more photos of additional reception decorating ideas when we receive the photos.

The Happy Couple

Redneck wine glasses were the party favor.  We also had homemade fruit wine labeled especially for the couple.  Hopefully some pictures will turn out.  Blue mason jars on silver trays wrapped with a burlap bow were the simple centerpieces.

A distressed blue table was used as the guestbook/ card box table.
The wedding colors were coral and cornflower blue, though many colors were brought in for a more informal feel.

We had a great time...

Repurposed Wall Art

Almost anything can become Wall Art.  These rusty saw blades placed at varying depth adds texture and interest to any wall.  I always look at things I see and wonder what else could become.

This piece of art was made from taking the table top off of a very old, unstable folding table.  Someone had already painted the checkerboard long ago.  The original paint was perfect just as it was.  With the addition of a phrase, it's perfect for the game room or front porch.

Vintage and Repurposed Furniture

I found this great, solid Kentucky Ladderback at a garage sale with a ripped up seat.  I wove some leather belts for a new seat and it turned out great.

It now sits in my entrance hall:

This sideboard piece came to me lightly distressed from age and I painted it with two different chalks.   I think it looks a lot like driftwood which made for great character lines in the end.

I loved the finished piece so much I put it in my hall under a great oyster mirror (that took a long time to create) right next to that Ladderback.  An old metal pitcher, literature set, and jars of color coordinated shells accent the space between the two pieces.

Bright Ideas

There are several ideas going on  in this arrangement.  The table was made by cutting off the end of a dining table, painting it and securing it to the wall.  I got the table for free...so you cant ask for a better result than this.

The ottoman, which I made for extra seating, is refurbished from a sturdy old drawer, a coffee sack upholstered top, and some vintage legs found at a garage sale. To balance the table setting, I placed some gourds in an old rusty prospecting pan, next to one of my lamps, and a few old books I've collected.

A ripped rag shade on a painted "just out of date" lamp..... fun and stunning!

Old window frames make great chalkboards.  This board fills the blank space over my sink and between the cabinets.  My kids like leaving their mark :)
