I found this great, solid Kentucky Ladderback at a garage sale with a ripped up seat. I wove some leather belts for a new seat and it turned out great.
It now sits in my entrance hall:
This sideboard piece came to me lightly distressed from age and I painted it with two different chalks. I think it looks a lot like driftwood which made for great character lines in the end.
I loved the finished piece so much I put it in my hall under a great oyster mirror (that took a long time to create) right next to that Ladderback. An old metal pitcher, literature set, and jars of color coordinated shells accent the space between the two pieces.
